What I learned from my Father

When I was about twelve years old my father gave me my first 35mm film camera for Christmas. I had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed learning to develop photos with my father who is a professional studio photographer in Lewiston NY. De'Carr Studio. However, I did not follow the same career as my father. For twenty years I worked as counselor, arts therapist, and in children's ministry. Helping others to see their own worth and beauty would become the most important component to my photography.

It wasn't until returning to college, that I became aware of my passion for photography and my early influence. I was looking for a arts elective and when the course I wanted to take was not available, I decided to take a photography class never expecting it to take me into the business of photography.

Thank you Dad for planting the seeds that would grow when I least expected it and thank you for your guidance and support ! Happy Fathers Day !

Hymn of Promise

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree;

In cocoons, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free!

In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be,

Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody;

There’s a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me.

From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery,

Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity;

In our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity,

In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory,

Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.
